It finally happened. After a rumor filled winter meetings, the Twins finally dealt Johan Santana to the Mets for four prospects. Carlos Gomez, Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra all come over from the Mets and the deal is contingent on the Mets and Santana reaching a long term deal.
You have to hate it when one of the best pitchers in baseball departs your team but so is life as a Twins fan. While you have to be happy they locked up Justin Morneau and Michael Cuddyer for the forseeable future, Santana’s departure leaves a huge hole in the rotation.
I don’t know a lot about the four guys the Twins got, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing about them soon.
