Frank Viola Strikes Out Nine In Twins Win

Twins 3, Blue Jays 2  (50-41)

The Twins won their 50th game of the season behind a solid outing by Frank Viola.  The left hander improved to 9-6 on the season and he gave up two runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings.  Juan Berenguer and Jeff Reardon each threw a shutout inning to close out the game and Reardon picked up his 18th save of the season.

Gary Gaetti belted a solo homerun in the the second inning to put the Twins on the board.  Al Newman went two for four with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.
