The Twins were hoping to turn a corner after their less then stellar performances in the series against the Angels and Mariners. However, they could not prevent their struggles from continuing and lost to the Athletics 3-2.
It was a fairly tight game, as the lead changed a few times and the Twins kept it close. They got their runs on RBIs from Justin Morneau and Nick Punto, but could only muster 5 hits total. Starter Nick Blackburn turned in a solid outing, giving up 2 runs and 6 hits, but Craig Breslow got the loss as Oakland won it in the 9th.
This game was such a downer after it looked like the Twins had gotten back on the right track with their win last night. The team must still keep it in perspective. They are still very close to the top of the AL Central and must continue to play hard down the stretch.
