The Twins were trying to stop their losing skid tonight against the Mariners and keep from falling farther back of the White Sox in the AL Central. They didn’t accomplish either of what they wanted to do tonight and lost to Seattle 3-2.
The team fell behind early but was able to mount a comeback in the 6th. Alexi Casilla scored when Justin Morneau hit into a double play and Randy Ruiz connected for a solo home run to tie it. However, their lead wouldn’t last for long. Scott Baker was not his usual solid self, giving up the 3 Seattle runs on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings.
The Twins cannot afford to keep losing like this with the White Sox on a winning streak of their own. Though they are only 2 games back, given how tight the race has been so far, the gap can’t be allowed to widen. Tomorrow’s series finale is pretty much a must win for the team, as they must snap their losing streak.
