The Twins had been on a high after winning three straight close games against the Tigers and were hoping to get the 4 game sweep earlier today. But alas, they could not pull it off and lost to Detroit 4-2.
Both of the Twins’ runs came in the 4th, with Joe Mauer scoring on a wild pitch and Brendan Harris continuing to produce with an RBI single. Starter Nick Blackburn was solid giving up 3 runs and 5 hits over 7 innings. Brian Bass would give up the remaining Tiger run in the 8th.
Despite heading into the All Star Break with a loss, the Twins are very happy with their position. They’ve kept winning and winning over the past month and established themselves as a legitimate contender for the AL Central, all in a season when most expected them to hover at the bottom of the standings.
