Twins Held to Two Hits in Shutout Loss Heading Into All Star Break

by @ 7:39 am. Filed under 1987 Twins, 1987 Twins Diary - July

July 12, 1987 at  Memorial Stadium
Orioles 5, Twins 0  (49-40)

The Twins limped into the All Star Break with a pretty poor performance at the plate.  Two singles aren’t going to cut it and that’s all the Twins managed in this one as they were shutout by Dave Schmidt.

Joe Niekro took the loss with five rough innings.  He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts in six innings.  Three of the six hits off of Niekro went over the fence.
